Whew, mid-February already! The year certainly has started off with a bang. I'm soooooo excited about this year of racing...I feel that I've finally gotten into a good groove as an Ogdenite and am looking forward to tackling new challenges this season. The shock of completing an Ironman, buying a new house, and moving to a new city all within the span of a week really did a number on me last summer. It seems that I took most of the latter part of 2010 recovering from that shock; I never really found my feet after the Ironman last year, and felt that I was merely dabbling in the sport from July onwards.
But now it's a fresh season and I've turned a new page! Gosh, it feels so good to be focused instead of simply meandering along. I guess a good place to start updating is to provide my planned race schedule so that all my wonderful fans and supporters out there can track me this year! And who knows, I may be coming to a race near you. :) Here is it:
Jan 11th: Battle at Soldier Hollow Winter Triathlon (7th place w/ a 20 minute PR!!!)
Feb. 12th: Salt Lake Track Club Winter 10K (6th place)

The big change in latitude is coming up in just a few days!!! Yep, I'm heading off to Costa Rica this Wednesday for the first in the REV3 Series this coming weekend. There will be three events in all: the age group Olympic-distance race is on Saturday, then the Professional Olympic-distance and the open Half Ironman are both on Sunday morning. I originally was thinking my race was on Saturday and looked into booking my flight home for Sunday...good thing I didn't do that or I would REALLY be making the airlines rich!!! I'm looking forward to a bit of tropical weather (TRULY tropical, not just the weird 50-degree-February-in-Utah) and taking in some new sights. I've never been to Costa Rica before but everyone I've spoken to who has been there has absolutely glowing reports of the country's beauty and the friendliness of the people. It'll be fun to christen my brand-spanking new passport with a nifty little Central American stamp! Thanks to the REV3 team for picking such a neat spot as a season opener, and for all the hard work they've done to put this race together.
I'm not sure what sort of internet access I'll have once I'm there, but you should be able to find results quickly at the REV3 Costa Rica website:

I will try to update as soon as I can post-race.
Pura Vida!
